You have the power to change your mindset

I’m about to tell you a secret. I can be my biggest bully but I didn’t use to be.

I remember when I was in 5th grade I had a “friend” who thought it would be a fun game to point out what’s WRONG with each other. I wasn’t very good at this game because I didn’t want to be mean to my so-called friend, but let me tell you she was great at the game.

I am 27 years old and still remember her making fun of my harry legs, body shape, and weird clothes. I WAS ONLY 10! It instilled this new feeling in me I hadn’t experienced before—insecurity.

From then on, I found myself critiquing me so harshly before anyone else could. Maybe if I saw the flaws first, it wouldn’t hurt so bad if someone else pointed them out. This sent me into a horrible spiral of negative self-talk. I told myself I was not pretty, smart, or capable of achieving what I want.

Sad thing is, I know I’m not alone. It’s more common for us to think negatively about ourselves than to be our biggest cheerleader!

I’ve been on this journey of trying to shut up the bully in my head. I would never speak or judge anyone the way I do myself—so why do I do it? I’m worthy of incredible pep talks, I’m capable of achieving ALL my dreams and SO ARE YOU.

Sometimes the bully comes back but because I’ve been working on repeating these positive affirmations to myself, I’ve found it easier to turn her away.

I hope you find value in these messages below. Pin the message to your Pinterest. Write them on a sticky note or on your bathroom mirror. Do what you need to do to become your biggest cheerleader.

In the meantime, if you need someone on your squad, I’M ROOTING FOR YOU!
