Start your day with a big dose of vitamins and minerals

Throughout history herbal teas have been used as remedies to heal the body and provide it with what it needs. It's not a coincidence that some of the healthiest cultures of people share a tradition of drinking tea.
Need some convincing to drink more tea?
It counts towards your 8 cups of water a day
It's a great source of vitamins and minerals, even if you just have one cup
Depending on the tea, you can relieve anxiety, pain, and inflammation, etc.
It can prevent/fight disease and cancer
and people who drink tea are happier ... IDK I came up with that one 😉
Different teas can serve different purposes so here are 5 herbal teas to try and their benefits! What's your favorite?

Matcha
If you're sick of the caffeine jitters from coffee or even black tea, Matcha is a great alternative! Matcha is a green powder that comes from young crushed up green tea leaves. It's popular for its ability to give you that extra energy without the negative effects. In fact, matcha provides more than just energy. It's loaded with antioxidants to protect your cells (which ultimately will prevent signs of aging & chronic disease), correlated with lowering bad cholesterol, and can even prevent & fight cancer. My doctor told me he prescribes his cancer patients to drink 5 cups of green tea a day because it is that powerful!
I don't have a particular brand to recommend, but when it comes to buying Matcha you definitely want one that is pure matcha & organic. Don't trust the matcha from Starbucks or cafes because their's is mixed with sugar, hydrogenated milk and extra ingredients.
My favorite way to enjoy matcha is as a latte with a little raw honey and foamed alternative milk.
Detox Tea
Contrary to what you may have heard, drinking a detox tea is not about weight-loss. It's all about giving your detox organs, such as your liver and kidneys, the support they need. Some common herbs you'll find in detox teas are dandelion root, licorice root, and burdock root. These herbs help aid digestion (especially if you're constipated), clean the blood, protect your cells, and reduce inflammation in the body.
I personally have been making my own herbal detox tea or buying Traditional Medicinal Organic Everyday Detox Tea from the store. When I found out I had a hormone imbalance my doctor prescribed me (in addition to other things) to drink a cup or two a day to help eliminate my excess estrogen. I also like to drink some when I'm feeling bloated or start breaking out, since both signs of inflammation and these herbs can help.

Ginger & Lemon tea
This tea is a great choice if your tummy hurts or you just want to give yourself a healthy boost!
You can buy teas with this winning combination or make it at home. All you need for homemade tea is chopped raw ginger, sliced lemon, raw honey and hot water. Put them in hot water and let sit for 5-10 minutes, then you can strain the lemon and ginger out.
Ginger helps to curve nausea and relieve the pain of stomach aches. It's also anti-inflammatory. Lemon provides vitamin C and antioxidants that help fight disease.
Chamomile tea
Chamomile is a powerful herb used to help reduce inflammation, menstrual cramps,
insomnia, ulcers, and digestion issues. You may also know it from you childhood as a tea that makes you calm and sleepy. You can buy chamomile tea from the store or make your own by steeping dried chamomile flowers in hot water.

Herbal Chai
There are a lot of varieties of chai and it's definitely a favorite when you want a warm spiced drink. A popular type to drink is concentrated chai's, such as Oregon Chai. These taste great because they're loaded with sugar and milk, two ingredients that counteract a lot of the health benefits of the spices. If you're going to choose chai tea I recommend an herbal blend.
Drinking the tea from the steeped herbs provides loads of vitamins and minerals.
Lately I've been making my own tasty chai blend with this recipe here.
So the next time you contemplate what to drink, I hope you consider a nice cup of tea!
