Gluten free and refined sugar free. Brownies you won't be able to stop eating!

Brownies are one of my favorite desserts. I'm a total chocolate fanatic and these settle the cravings. Before changing my diet to be healthier, I would buy the boxed brownie mixes. Although so quick and simple, the ingredients are not ideal. When you make your homemade brownie mix you eliminate the processed ingredients such as Soy Lecithin (Emulsifier),Soybean Oil, Milk Powder, and unknown artificial ingredients. These are ingredients to limit or avoid because they are not received well by the body. I promise when you learn how easy it is to make you own batch of brownie mix, you'll never want to go back to buying the boxed brands.

These brownies are decadent and for the chocolate lovers! I've created them to be gluten free, refined sugar free, and can be dairy free if you swap for vegan butter.

I always say that you don't have to give up your favorite treats when improving your diet. You just have to find better ways of making them! Check out these healthier Homemade Reece's Peanut Butter Cups.

Now lets get to the recipe you came here for!

Ingredients:

  • 1 stick of melted butter (or vegan butter)

  • 1/2 cup of cocoa powder

  • 3/4 cup coconut sugar

  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract

  • 2 eggs

  • 1/2 cup Gluten Free Flour (I used Bob's GF 1 to 1 baking flour)

  • 1/2 tsp baking powder

  • Dark chocolate chips (optional and as many as you want)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F

  2. In a mixing bowl add the melted butter, cocoa powder, coconut sugar, and vanilla, then combine.

  3. Next, mix in the eggs (just make sure the butter isn't too warm and will cook the eggs, I learned the hard way).

  4. Add in the flour until you get a slightly thick batter.

  5. After, combine the baking powder in.

  6. Optional: add in your chocolate chips. I always add just a small handful.

  7. Last, pour the brownie mix into a 8x8 pan and even it out with the spatula.

  8. Pop them in the oven for 20-25 minutes (check regularly though incase your oven bakes quicker).

End result: Brownies you can't keep your hands off! You can enjoy them with some berries, peanut butter, or of course--on their own.
